Within the framework of the first week of October, designated as the “Week of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repression,” in accordance with Resolution No. PQ-270 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated July 19, 2024, and Resolution No. 691 of the Cabinet of Ministers dated November 4, 2025, a roundtable discussion entitled “Understanding Qodiriy: History and the Present” was held at the State Museum of Memory of the Victims of Repression.
The event was attended by the leadership of the Central Council of the “Milliy Tiklanish” Democratic Party, deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, members of city and district Councils of People’s Deputies, and representatives of the mass media.
During the roundtable discussion, participants exchanged views on the life and work of Abdulla Qodiriy, his role in the development of Uzbek national literature and intellectual thought, his activities during a complex historical period, and ways to pass on his rich literary legacy to younger generations.
The event featured opening remarks by F. Muhammadjonova, Deputy Chair of the Central Council of the “Milliy Tiklanish” Democratic Party, a speech by V. Fayziyeva, a deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, and the screening of a video related to the topic.
In addition, B. Hasanov, Director of the State Museum of Memory of the Victims of Repression, delivered a presentation on the subject, followed by an exchange of views and reflections with the participants.
At the conclusion of the event, participants explored the museum exhibitions and learned about historical documents and artefacts relating to the lives and fates of victims of repression, as well as the museum’s research and educational activities. A commemorative photo session was held at the end.
Indeed, understanding history means preserving national memory and passing the lessons of the past on to future generations.
